Lajuma Research Centre in the Soutpansberg Mountains, South Africa, hosts overlapping populations of the thick-tailed greater galago ( Otolemur crassicaudatus ) and the southern lesser galago ( Galago moholi ). The Bushbaby Project consists of a dataset spanning over 10 years on these species, focusing on their ecology, behaviour, and interactions. What You Will Do Perform environmental compliance monitoring at construction sites (including preconstruction clearance surveys and environmental awareness training), coordinate with construction crews, and be responsive to changing schedules.  Much of this will be  NIGHT WORK. Field surveys for special-status species, nesting birds, natural communities, and habitats. Field surveys may include walking transects, walking and mapping habitat boundaries, trapping or collecting specimens, identifying animals by sight and sound.  Work may be alone or in teams. Evaluate project plans in coordination with the task lead for determining potential impacts on special-status species and other biological resources. Hormel Nature Center, a division of our park and recreation department. The ideal candidate would be able to start mid-August, 2026.   The successful candidate will:   Teach environmental, conservation, and outdoor education to all ages.
