WildComm Research Stations CIC is an independent, not-for-profit conservation organisation dedicated to demonstrating that private land can play a vital role in safeguarding biodiversity. We establish and manage research stations on privately owned land in Southern Africa, creating new models for conservation outside traditional protected areas. By combining rigorous ecological research, long-term biodiversity monitoring, and practical training, WildComm supports landowners in protecting wildlife while generating sustainable, nature-based income. Our work bridges the gap between academic research and real-world conservation, providing opportunities for participants to get involved in day-to-day fieldwork, data collection, and research activities, gaining practical experience while contributing to ongoing conservation efforts on the ground.

Location and Accommodation
WildComm’s research stations are located in ecologically diverse regions of southern Africa, encompassing a range of habitats such as savannas, bushveld, forests, and wetlands. Accommodation is provided on-site in shared rooms with communal kitchen, dining, and relaxation areas. Facilities include flushing toilets, hot showers, and clean drinking water. Living conditions are practical and designed to support extended fieldwork, offering participants an immersive experience in remote, biodiverse landscapes.
Duration
A minimum commitment of three months is required for all participants. This duration is necessary to gain meaningful field experience, contribute effectively to research, and understand the complexities of conservation work. Shorter stays are generally not suitable, as they do not allow for adequate training or integration into ongoing projects. In exceptional cases, a reduced duration may be considered, but program fees will be higher to reflect the additional resources required for short-term placements.
