Job Summary
The Environmental Project Manager position is an experienced-level role with our Environmental & Sustainability Consulting team for a qualified professional to be based in Overland Park, KS, Houston, Texas, or Orlando, FL office with a desire to manage clients and projects in the field or environmental services for a global infrastructure consulting and engineering company.
Our multidisciplinary environmental team includes ecologists, engineers, scientists, project managers, and attorneys working together to identify optimum environmental solutions for our clients. We have provided environmental consulting services in support of industrial projects for over 40 years including a diverse and growing mix of facilities such as power generation and transmission, oil & gas pipelines and ocean terminals, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and all forms of renewable and distributed energy including solar, wind, wave, geothermal, hydroelectric, and battery storage. As a full-service environmental consulting practice, services include impact assessment and planning, permitting, and regulatory compliance, wetland and floodplain analysis, waterbody and water quality assessment, air quality permitting and management, environmental noise assessment, pollution prevention planning, National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) documentation, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) documentation, and International Financing Act documentation. The Environmental Project Manager position provides an exciting opportunity to join B&V's Environmental & Sustainability Consulting team.
Key Responsibilities
Our environmental project managers are heavily involved in managing environmental consulting projects associated with facility development, construction, and operation. They manage teams of environmental specialists in providing critical support to our clients in environmental compliance planning, environmental permitting, mergers and acquisitions due diligence, and environmental review services. They are familiar with domestic and international consulting, permitting, licensing, and environmental quality review processes for power generation projects, including fossil fuel projects, renewable energy projects, electric transmission line projects, oil & gas projects, and pipeline projects. They identify and interpret the statutes and regulations affecting the siting, design, construction, and operation of projects; coordinate with regulatory agencies and environmental consultants; and supervise the preparation of site certification applications, permit applications, environmental reports, and environmental compliance procedures manuals. They participate in public hearings associated with permit application approvals and environmental assessments.
Our environmental project managers lead a client-focused team that delivers solutions to meet each client’s needs. They develop and implement project execution approaches and manage staff, budgets, and schedules in execution of large, complex multidisciplinary environmental consulting, permitting, and engineering design projects. They mentor environmental team members and influence career development. As a client-facing role, responsibilities include managing and growing client relationships, identifying business opportunities, identifying and characterizing key differentiators regarding services offered, and coordinating and managing proposal production.
Management Responsibilities
Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, environmental engineering or sciences preferred. Other degrees, specialized training or experience that uniquely qualifies the individual to perform the job responsibilities may also be considered.
Proven success providing strategic environmental consulting for oil & gas clients, traditional and distributed power generation clients, and/or major electricity transmission line or natural gas pipeline clients.
10+ years of solutions-oriented environmental consulting related to infrastructure or industrial projects. Demonstrated experience managing the development of major environmental impact assessment and review documents in compliance with NEPA or comparable state or international requirements.
Positive, team-first, 'get the job done' commitment.
Highly-developed critical thinking skills with proven problem-solving capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of science degree.
