POSITION SUMMARY: River Network seeks an experienced fundraising professional to join our dynamic team. The primary role of this position is to increase unrestricted support for River Network, thereby allowing River Network more ability and responsiveness in fulfilling its efforts to advance clean water and healthy rivers for all (for more information, see our current strategic plan ). This position is externally-facing by design to grow donations from individuals and corporate sponsorships, achieving or surpassing River Network’s related revenues goals (currently $330,000 /year and $100,000/year respectively). This position will work shoulder to shoulder with the Director of Philanthropy and the President/CEO, and in partnership with the Marketing and Communications Manager, Director of Finance, and other staff members to develop and execute River Network’s overall fundraising strategy on an annual basis. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Establish annual cycle of activities related to the prospecting, cultivation and stewardship of individual donors and corporate sponsors that will achieve or surpass River Network’s related revenues goals (currently $330,000/year for individual donors and $100,000/year for corporate sponsors). Persistently and relentlessly identify prospective individual donors and corporate sponsors, actively communicating persuasively and passionately through in-person meetings, by phone, via email, and through written products resulting in commitments to River Network and moving investors along a continuum toward higher levels of giving. Oversee direct mail and email campaigns and appeals in collaboration with Marketing and Communications Manager and other colleagues. Manage President/CEO’s appointment schedule with prospective and existing major donors and corporate sponsors, and engage board members and other colleagues in cultivation and stewardship efforts as appropriate. Develop excellent working relationships with River Network’s Board of Directors, working hand in hand with individual board members to execute their annual fundraising goals and commitments. Develop and maintain detailed records and files for all $1,000+ individual and family donors and prospects. Track all individual fundraising efforts and results in Salesforce database. Support the execution of the corporate strategy, including persuasive communication with existing and prospective corporate partners through phone conversations, personal visits, written proposals and reports. Undertake collaborations with colleagues and the Board of Directors with candor, integrity, and clarity. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Three to five years professional fundraising experience with in-depth experience developing and implementing successful strategies and campaigns attracting support from individuals and corporations. Proven experience managing major donors and securing $1,000+ donations from individuals or equivalent. Knowledge of current and evolving trends in donor engagement and corporate sponsorship. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, proven experience translating complex and technical concepts into compelling and clear messages for specific audiences, positive attitude and energy. Detail-oriented, with proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering assignments within stringent deadlines. Highly technologically savvy, with proficiency in donor management systems (Salesforce), prospect research tools, and MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and ability to comprehend and interpret nonprofit financial statements. Access to transportation to visit with individual donor and corporate supporters and prospects, willingness to travel, and availability for events. Ability to work from our Boulder, Colorado office location. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of river conservation, current issues in the water arena, challenges related to equity, etc. Familiarity with the local/Colorado philanthropic community.
