What You Will Do Perform environmental compliance monitoring at construction sites (including preconstruction clearance surveys and environmental awareness training), coordinate with construction crews, and be responsive to changing schedules.  Much of this will be  NIGHT WORK. Field surveys for special-status species, nesting birds, natural communities, and habitats. Field surveys may include walking transects, walking and mapping habitat boundaries, trapping or collecting specimens, identifying animals by sight and sound.  Work may be alone or in teams. Evaluate project plans in coordination with the task lead for determining potential impacts on special-status species and other biological resources. Gain experience in a variety of habitat restoration activities including shoreline stabilization, invasive species management, and native plant propagation!  NEIWPCC is seeking a seasonal intern to assist the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve (HRNERR) stewardship team in the field and office. This intern will work alongside full-time staff to assess, protect, manage, and restore priority Hudson River Estuary habitats, including shorelines, tidal wetlands, and submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) beds. For all tasks, ample training will be provided. Responsibilities will be delegated with the goal of developing the intern’s skillsets and knowledge to provide a valuable experience.
