Senior Safety Officer

Are you passionate about preventing injuries, building effective safety programs, and partnering with operational teams to create safer workplaces? Vanderbilt University's Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) team is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Officer to help advance occupational safety across one of the nation's premier research universities.
This position provides a unique opportunity to support a diverse range of operations, including facilities maintenance, construction activities, building services, grounds operations, utility and powerhouse functions, and skilled trades. As Vanderbilt continues to expand its national footprint, you'll help develop and implement innovative safety programs that protect employees and support operational excellence.
What You'll Do
As a key member of the EHSS team, you'll help lead and continuously improve programs involving:

We're Looking For
An experienced occupational safety professional with knowledge of OSHA regulations and experience in areas such as safety training, workplace inspections, incident investigations, job hazard analyses, construction safety, facilities safety, or operational risk management. Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, GSP, CIH, or similar credentials are preferred. Candidates with strong communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a passion for improving workplace safety are encouraged to apply.
