Position Overview

The Make Ready Engineer (MRE) Project Manager in this role, provides project management for utility pre-construction design projects and is accountable for developing and implementing a plan. This plan should support current client desires, operational management, and overall project viability. The daily atmosphere and health of the project is dependent on the Project Manager leadership.

Job Duties

  • Ensures compliance with DRG Policies and Procedures. 

  • Fosters collaborative and partnering relationship with Field Operations/Construction Managers and office personnel to deliver successful projects 

  •  Participate in proposal and bid development as required. 

  • Responsible for overall utility project management and customer management for contracts with major telecommunications and distribution customers. 

  • Responsible for constructability analysis & engineering planning verification produced by customer 

  • Serve as a single-point of contact, establishing, nurturing and managing customer expectations regarding the project performance and building long-term relationships for the Company. 

  • Manages project performance (scope, safety, quality, schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction) to meet or beat target goals. 

  • Responsible for implementing appropriate document retention process 

  • Responsible to understand Asset Management financial and project management systems, including the ability to run and analyze key reports, and development of recovery plans as required 

  • Responsible for data/design integrity and timely reporting to management 

  •  Accountable for timely billing to customers, including receiving payment 

  • Develop, optimize and update project schedules for multiple, simultaneous large projects using project scheduling software, as necessary 

  • Ability to travel to job sites during project performance period.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent related industry experience. 

  • Relevant construction experience of 5 years of project management 

  • Experienced and able to explain field staking techniques as it relates to design data to others

  • Understanding of operations, contract administration, contract management, processes, and standards, with emphasis on the utility industry. 

  • Experience in Project Planning and Construction Scheduling 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) essential with management, project team, contractors, and customer, both written and verbal. 

  • Excellent computer skills, and experience with Google Chrome or Microsoft software (Sheets, Excel, Powerpoint, Video conferencing etc.)

  • Ability to prioritize and work with limited direct supervision

Additional Information

The ideal candidate would be comfortable with traveling from location to location within the client’s service territory. Candidates must be comfortable working full time with a minimum of 40 - 45 hours per week. Compensation based on experience.
