Job Description United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for an Environmental Compliance Engineer in its Headquarters Office located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The following activities will be included in the responsibilities: •Developing and implementing solutions for various air permitting and compliance issues •Managing contracted engineering firms on permitting, investigative and regulatory projects •Communicating with agencies, production facilities, and technical personnel on various issues including regulation interpretation and application, production requirements and methods and application of advanced/innovative technologies •Communicating with industry trade associations on air permitting and regulatory issues, including but not limited to regulatory development •Involvement with various Federal, State and Local Environmental Regulators •Learning and understanding the steel manufacturing process. •Conducting periodic audits of environmental facilities to assure compliance and uncover potential problems. •Managing green house gas data and reporting •Other activities related to the Clean Air Act •Other environmental projects (water, waste, wetlands etc.) This position provides the employee with exposure to various aspects of U. S. Steel’s overall business, as well as interaction with various government agencies, plant operations and multiple functional groups within the corporation providing a well-rounded basic knowledge of the business in addition to environmental performance and responsibilities.   Requirements : Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a Science-related degree. Additional course work or related experience in environmental science or management would be beneficial. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills are required. Computer literacy with a working skills level in Microsoft Office products is required. Must be able to adapt to and master web based supporting applications.
