The Coastal Conservancy is a State agency established in 1976 to protect and improve natural lands and waterways, help people get to and enjoy outdoors and sustain local economies along the length of California's coast and around the San Francisco Bay. The Conservancy is a very small department of 64 employees located in Oakland near BART. The Coastal Conservancy is funded by bond funds, special funds, federal funds, general funds, trust funds and private reimbursements. http://scc.ca.gov/
