Job Summary Under general direction, is responsible for coordinating public information, promotion, and outreach relating to recycling.  Exercises no supervision. Essential Job Functions Attends and conducts meetings with neighborhood associations regarding recycling projects. Monitors and evaluates recycling contracts for efficiency, productivity, and compliance. Responds, analyzes, and assists in resolving complicated issues or concerns related to solid waste and recycling. Researches recycling issues and prepares long-range goals. Collects and compiles data for reports and correlates statistical data. Responds to special requests for presentation to youths, businesses, and community groups regarding the recycling program. Attends local and state conferences. Provides support on educational information material including brochures, audiovisual aids, press releases, and training manuals. Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Two (2) years of experience in solid waste recycling, environmental science, teaching, or conservation related field. This position requires a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License OR valid driver's license from another state with the ability to obtain a valid Texas Driver's License within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Use of your own personal vehicle may at times be required and proof of Liability Insurance will be required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Fluent in English and Spanish (speaking and writing). Experience in customer service/customer interaction as individual will be scheduling many of the Division's presentations with the community and school contacts. Microsoft Office experience: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Interest and/or experience in Marketing a plus; possible special marketing projects assigned at times with supervision. Interact effectively with individuals from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds as well as all age groups from kindergarten children to senior citizens. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of solid waste and recycling technology. Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws. Basic computer skills. Public speaking skills. Ability to correlate statistical data. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to make effective oral presentations.
