The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) offers employees a work environment that is second to none. Our many dedicated staff report to work each day in some of the most beautiful outdoor settings in the country. From the sheer tranquility of Montauk Point on Long Island's easternmost tip to the awe inspiring majesty of Niagara Falls on our State's western border with Canada, there are over 200 State parks and historic sites that operate to meet the recreational needs of the millions of visitors we receive each year.
In addition to our permanent and seasonal employees, volunteers provide many valuable services in our parks that could not otherwise be accomplished without their generous support. Numerous parks and historic sites have active Friends Groups that help coordinate volunteer efforts and raise money for important programs. So even if a career in Parks is not in your plans, there are still lots of ways to get involved and help preserve our abundant recreational resources for current and future generations to enjoy.
