LandWatch’s mission is to create a blueprint for sustainability, using Monterey County as a model.
Since 1997 LandWatch has protected and enhanced Monterey County’s quality of life for current and future generations. We address critical public policy issues and choices, including climate change, community health, and social inequities in housing and infrastructure. Our aim is to create a model for the rest of California through grassroots community action. By encouraging greater public participation in planning, we connect people to government, address human needs, and inspire conservation of natural resources. Our work spans climate and housing policy, land and water use issues, sustainable groundwater, transportation, urban sprawl, land conservation, open space, and farmland preservation.
