Finding the right illustrator kind of feels impossible when you really don’t know where to look. I’ve seen authors spend months searching, then kind of give up, start again, and settle anyway , then later regret it. The art has to match the story— not only on the surface, technically, but also in that emotional sense. If the illustrations are off, the whole book feels flat, even when the writing is actually strong.
