The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism is a cabinet-level agency with a Secretary appointed by the Governor. A seven-member, bipartisan commission, also appointed by the Governor, advises the Secretary and approves regulations governing outdoor recreation and fish and wildlife resources in Kansas. The commission conducts business during regular public sessions.

KDWPT employs approximately 460 full-time employees in five divisions: Executive Services , Administrative Services , Fisheries and Wildlife , Law Enforcement , Parks and Tourism.

This unclassified, full time position is located in the Education Section, Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism Operations Office in Pratt, KS. This position is responsible for the development and evaluation of recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) efforts statewide for KDWPT. These efforts include; coordinating and collaborating with agency staff in all divisions and at all levels, and with partnering organizations to increase participation in hunting, shooting sports, angling and outdoor recreation; develop the Kansas R3 Outdoor Participation Action Plan based on strategies from the National Hunting and Shooting Sports Action Plan; identify weaknesses in outdoor opportunities and provide solutions to increase opportunities to urban areas and regions with low public access; summarize data and produce reports to provide recommendations to KDWPT commission and partnering organizations to develop or enhance R3 programs, materials and activities; organize Kansas-specific R3 training events for agency staff and partnering organizations; work with KDWPT Hunter Education program to enhance mentoring and advanced hunter education programs; develop and manage event-user and license-purchase tracking methods; conveying information to media outlets and through social media; present performance reports as requested and other duties as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s Degree in natural resources, marketing, education, social sciences, or closely related field. Minimum of two years of professional experience. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Other degrees and experience may be considered by the agency. Candidates with outdoor backgrounds will be given preference.
