Job Description The Department of Environmental Quality,  DWQ (Division of Water Quality), is seeking an Environmental Scientist with knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Clean Water Act. The qualified candidate will have experience preparing NEPA analysis for federally funded projects,  reviewing and commenting on NEPA documents, and serving as the division's liaison with Federal Land Management agencies to ensure water quality concerns are addressed. If you would like an opportunity to join a team of passionate individuals who work hard to safeguard Utah's water quality, this is the job for you. The   ideal candidate has: a graduate level education in an environmental policy or science based natural resource field demonstrated ability to design and review scientific and environmental policy documents. certification as a Hydrologist, Environmental Scientist/Professional, or Natural Resources Professional. experience promoting environmental quality and working cooperatively with resource management agencies. knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures regarding NEPA, environmental policy, and resource management programs.  a broad background in the natural sciences, including both biological and physical disciplines with an emphasis on aquatic ecosystems. knowledge of current policies associated with the Clean Water Act and DWQ's delegated authorities and programs. the ability to organize information in a clear and concise manner experience with Federal Land Management agencies (USFS, BLM, etc), preferably within Utah. knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of related water quality best management practices.
