Currently, HGL has a position open for an Associate Scientist with experience in the MMRP industry in our Huntsville, Alabama office to support our growing Munitions Response Program.  Responsibilities/Duties The successful candidate will be responsible for execution of field tasks and in-office work including preparation of MMRP plans and reports under the direction of a project manager. Tasks may include but are not limited to development of evaluation of field data and coordination with GIS department to develop maps, various calculations, data collection, environmental sampling and data entry and analysis. Must be capable of technical writing for MMRP compliant technical deliverables under CERCLA and development of various MMRP report sections to summarize and evaluate investigative results. Required Skills Proficiency with the MS Office suite. Required Experience This is an associate level position and requires 2-4 years of experience in the MMRP and Environmental industry. The successful candidate must have experience in the following: Experience with MMRP site operations Experience with environmental sampling Knowledge of and experience with RCRA, CERCLA, DoD projects, (experience with FUDS, BRAC and National Guard sites or USACE, Air Force, and AEC clients is a plus Must demonstrate a history of initiative, motivation and creativity. Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail. Required Education The Associate Scientist position requires a minimum of a BS or BA degree in a field related to Environmental Studies such as Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, Biology or Chemistry. The particular degree needed may vary with each position.  Required Qualifications To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift up to 30 pounds in order to perform field tasks. Field tasks may take place in environments which include rugged terrain and weather extremes. The successful candidate will be required to possess or obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification upon employment.  Travel, overtime and moderate physical work are routinely required.
