Who are we looking for? Woodard & Curran has an opportunity for a mid-level engineer/geologist/scientist who can support and manage remediation projects and provide high-quality remediation and consulting services to our industrial, commercial, and municipal clients. The selected candidate will report directly to Project Managers in our national Environmental Remediation Practice and work directly with a diverse and talented group of engineers and scientists at the firm. The ideal candidate is a mid-level engineer/geologist/scientist with strong technical experience delivering high-quality remediation and consulting services to projects located across the firm’s geography and core markets. The individual in this position will lead and complete technical tasks for site investigation and remediation projects. Typical projects range from site assessment/investigation through remediation system design, construction and operation. Specific experience and remedial focus areas include corrective measures/feasibility studies; preparation of detailed design plans and specifications; remediation construction bid evaluations; brownfields remediation and redevelopment; in-situ and ex-situ soil and groundwater remediation; vapor intrusion evaluations/mitigation; regulatory compliance; construction management; and documentation and reporting in accordance with applicable environmental laws and regulations. Work also involves the selection, coordination, and management of subcontractors, cost estimating, and management of the scope, schedule, and budget for various project tasks. Report writing and interaction with project staff, clients and regulatory agencies will also play an important role in the candidate’s success. Candidate should be a self-starter and possess strong field and writing skills to support a wide range of science and engineering projects. Candidates must also have excellent verbal communication skills combined with leadership ability, a positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and within teams. What will you need to succeed? Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field from an accredited program. MS desirable. Professional practice license (PE) and/or remediation state licensure (LEP) desirable. Strong appreciation of and commitment to safe work practices mandatory. 6-10 years of professional experience with an environmental/engineering consulting firm. Demonstrated experience with scoping, budgeting and implementation of site investigation and remediation programs. Technical experience in conceptual site model development, hydrogeological evaluations and models, design and implementation of site remediation programs, including feasibility evaluations, remedy selection and optimization. Experience with management of remediation contractors. Ability to work independently and on large multi-disciplinary teams. Outstanding written and verbal skills.
