Permitting Specialist – Municipal Stormwater   Location:   Detroit or Ann Arbor         Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. (ECT) , seeks a dynamic and driven mid-level engineer/scientist to join our Water Resources service line in our Detroit or Ann Arbor Michigan offices.   This position will apply technical environmental and stormwater knowledge to develop and implement aspects of the NPDES Municipal Stormwater Permits for Phase I/II communities and support other stormwater management projects.     Duties & Responsibilities:     ·   Implement illicit discharge elimination plans including outfall screening to characterize dry weather discharges, source tracing, oversight of sewer inspections, dye testing, data management, and reporting   ·   Implement public education plans - generate fresh ideas for pollution prevention education aimed at residents and businesses   ·   Develop progress reports for submission to the state   ·   Communicate with the permittees and the state   ·   Prepare stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs)   ·   Audit municipal sites and train municipal staff for compliance with SWPPPs   ·   Lead stakeholder meetings   ·   Duties may also include stormwater calculations, green infrastructure design,  wet weather sampling, data interpretation and mapping     Education & Experience:   ·   Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental sciences, planning or engineering   ·   5-10 years of relevant work experience   ·   Familiarity with Michigan's NPDES permitting program, municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) experience is preferred   ·   Experience with MS4 permit compliance in urbanized areas   ·   Knowledge of hydrologic concepts such as watershed delineation, and water quality principals as they apply to sample collection and handling   ·   Familiar with water resource stakeholders and agencies within southeast Michigan     Job Essentials:   ·   Manage projects effectively to assist the organization in achieving a higher level of performance    ·   Explore and engage both new and existing ECT clients with the ability to deliver services outside of your own expertise but within the collective  expertise of the  Opens a New Window. Position Summary:   We are looking for a mid-level Ecologist to join one of our three Florida office locations.   Successful candidates will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience performing wetland delineations and impact assessments, threatened and endangered (T&E) species surveys, habitat assessments and permitting.      Job Duties:   1.   Perform   in   lead   role   conducting   wetland   delineations;   with   strong   wetland   delineations   skills   including   plant   ID,   soils   and   hydrology;   familiarity   with   both   state   and   federal delineation methodology and demonstrated experience with agency wetland reviews   2.   Conduct   wetland   impact   assessments   based   on   Florida   UMAM   methodology   3.   Lead   listed   T&E   surveys   throughout   Florida   and   perform   gopher   tortoise   relocation's   as   needed   4.   Conduct   habitat   assessments   to   map   vegetation   communities   and   evaluate   quality;   must have   strong   understanding   of   Florida   ecology   (habitats   and   plant ID)   5.   Assist   with   State   (FDEP   and   WMD)   and   Section   404   (USACE)   wetland   permitting   6.   Assist   with   environmental   feasibility,   permitting and monitoring   reports   7.   Understand   and   apply   field   survey   methodologies   and   data   forms   to   support   feasibility studies, permitting and monitoring   efforts   8.   Provide   QA/QC   for   all   field   data   collection,   written   reports   and   map   products   9.   Conduct occasional water quality monitoring      Education & Experience:   ·   Bachelor’s degree in an environmental science field and 3-5 years of experience   ·   Strong experience with wetland delineations, plant ID, hydric soils and hydrology ·   Experience with Florida ecology and habitats, wildlife (T&E) required   ·   Experience conducting wetland impact (UMAM) and habitat assessments, mapping habitats, conducting tree surveys, and mitigation monitoring   ·   Experience using GPS unit and processing GPS data to produce necessary maps,  collect and organizing field   data   ·   Wetland permitting experience preferred      Job Essentials:   ·   Tolerate   working   long   field   days   in   adverse   weather   and   field   conditions including   heat   and   humidity,   snakes,   insects   ·   Valid driver’s license with clean driving record   ·   Able   to   work   both   independently   and   as   a   team   ·   Strong technical writing skills required   ·   Good   communication   skills   (both   verbally   and   written)   ·   Willingness to travel out of town on occasion to assist with large field efforts in the Florida region.   Some travel may require being away from home for extended periods of time   ·   Be a positive member of the team with strong leadership and mentoring skills      About Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc.
