The Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC), one of 21 Planning District Commissions in the Commonwealth of Virginia, is a regional organization representing this area's seventeen local governments. Planning District Commissions are voluntary associations and were created in 1969 pursuant to the Virginia Area Development Act and a regionally executed Charter Agreement. The HRPDC was formed in 1990 by the merger of the Southeastern Virginia Planning District Commission and the Peninsula Planning District Commission.

WATER RESOURCES SCIENTIST/ENGINEER – Starting Salary: $62,000 - $72,000, DOQ/DOE. The Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC) is seeking a candidate for the position of Water Resources Scientist/Engineer.  The successful candidate will provide technical assistance to local governments and work on a variety of projects including tracking changes in state regulations that impact local government’s drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities; developing and implementing regional programs to address regulatory and permit requirements related to these utilities; and identifying research methodologies and proposing studies that address water resource challenges in the Hampton Roads region.
