Description Primary duties: Collects and records data; maintains monitors and ensures quality control on ambient air monitors in accordance with County, State, and Federal guidelines. Prepares written quality assurance plans for and written reports of the status of air monitoring system in accordance with the Iowa DNR and US EPA specifications. Observes and validates stack test results at major and minor sources; prepares summary reports; determines compliance with applicable emission limits; performs follow up action based on the test results. Participates in the development, implementation and review of rules, policies, methods, and techniques needed to achieve and maintain compliance with ambient air quality and air pollution control standards; assists in the development of administrative policy and code revisions; reviews current scientific literature and government regulation to stay informed of the latest trends, advancements and discoveries in air quality.
