Emissions Laboratory Assessment/Sign-Off Engineer Allen Park Ford Motor Company Sustainability, Environment and Safety Engineering Job Description & Qualifications Position Overview/Description: We are looking for an experienced engineer to lead compliance assessments of Ford and contract emissions laboratories. This engineer will interface regularly with testing activities at Ford to ensure that emissions test facilities used to test/certify Ford products are compliant with EPA regulations.    Responsibilities:   Work with Ford Laboratories to ensure that robust emissions/fuel economy measurement strategies are in place to develop and certify the diverse range of products in Ford's plan (heavy duty, electrified products, diesels, GTDIs, flex-fuel vehicles, etc…) Conduct onsite emission laboratory assessments and sign-offs of Ford and contract facilities to ensure conformance to corporate guidelines and regulatory requirements. Provide ongoing support to heavy duty engine certification programs with regulatory interpretation, measurement analysis and laboratory assessment  Support vehicle programs by understanding and interpreting the emissions and fuel economy certification process used in other markets and work with Ford laboratories to ensure that strategies are in place to support Review and interpret new regulations for emissions and fuel economy testing. Provide direction to laboratories to ensure compliance with new regulations Participate in different Government/Industry forums (SAE, AIGER, USCAR, ASTM) to collaborate on best practices and run special test programs Carry out test programs to evaluate new measurement equipment and/or vehicle technologies Generate assessment, sign-off and trip reports documenting compliance issues Negotiate resolution of compliance issues with laboratories Develop test procedures and local assessment procedures based on regulations and Ford best practices Will be required to travel occasionally  Basic Qualifications:   Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 1+ years of experience with emissions laboratory equipment or emissions/fuel economy test procedures (light duty or heavy duty)  Preferred Qualifications:   Knowledge of vehicle powertrain components and basic understanding of vehicle electrification Effective oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and persuasion skills Ability to interact effectively with senior management and regulatory contacts, including EPA and CARB Good problem solving skills Familiarity with emissions and fuel economy regulations Vehicle testing or laboratory experience Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to heavy duty engine and powertrain testing Experience applying statistical methods   The distance between imagination and … creation.
