Description Sustainability Manager Under the direction of the Director of Sustainability, the Sustainability Manager is responsible for planning and administering sustainability projects and programs, both within municipal departments and with community stakeholders. Responsibilities include working collaboratively with Office of Sustainability staff, personnel from City Departments and Divisions, and community partners to design, develop, implement, and evaluate sustainability projects, policies, and programs. A primary role of the Sustainability Manager is advancing and tracking implementation efforts for the Cleveland Climate Action Plan. Examples of Duties Develop and support implementation of various sustainability and climate action projects, policies, and programs in a variety of areas, such as: green building, local food, equity, sustainable transportation, and green procurement Monitor implementation efforts for the Cleveland Climate Action Plan, including tracking key metrics to ensure equitable outcomes Assist various City Departments and Divisions in identifying and implementing sustainability projects Support projects and programs which encourage sustainable business practices, and identify opportunities to collaborate with other City departments and partner organizations to elevate sustainability in the business sector Assist with development of federal, state, and local grant proposals, and grant administration/management as needed Monitor project or program operating budgets, ensuring goals are met while staying within budget Draft requests for legislation for citywide policies and ordinances as needed Work with other members of the Mayor's Office of Sustainability to execute project tasks as directed Provide support at community outreach events as needed Draft documents (press releases, blogs, emails, letters, etc.) as needed Attend meetings/events on behalf of the Director of Sustainability or Chief of Sustainability as needed Coordinate and plan meetings and special events including registration, communicating with speakers, sponsors, and special guests, as needed Assist with planning efforts for Mayor Jackson's annual Sustainable Cleveland Summit Perform other job-related duties as required Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in political science, environmental science, engineering, business, public administration, sustainability, or other related field is required. (Substitution: Two years of experience may substitute for each year of college education lacking) A minimum of three years of experience working in a professional environment Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills (writing samples may be requested) Understanding of sustainability principles and triple bottom line thinking Able to work in complex civic environments to produce results Skilled in Microsoft Office applications Valid Ohio driver's license Ability to lift 20 lbs.
