Maryland Department of Transportation

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Headquarters' Office of Environment provides leadership and guidance in environmental policy, planning, compliance, and stewardship to the Department’s six transportation business units - Maryland Aviation Administration, Maryland Port Administration, Maryland Transportation Authority, Maryland Transit Administration, Motor Vehicle Administration, and State Highway Administration. MDOT is one of the few State DOTs nationally to comprehensively encompass all modes of transportation within a single Department.

The Office of Environment is responsible for the Department-Wide development, implementation, oversight, and coordination for environmental programs and initiatives that support a safe and sustainable transportation system, while protecting human health and the environment.
