Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) invites applications for the position of Clean Energy Coordinator based in Inuvik, NT. Under the guidance of the Research Manager, the Clean Energy Coordinator is responsible for supporting community energy priorities and establishing an inclusive approach to clean growth implementation efforts within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR). The successful candidate will work closely with local communities, and the Inuvialuit Corporate Group to ensure a coordinated approach to energy in the ISR. Main Responsibilities: Coordinate and facilitate community meetings related to reducing dependency on diesel and promoting cleaner growth Assist in developing the Inuvialuit Settlement Regions clean growth strategy and provide recommendations towards implementation Facilitate community and regional energy infrastructure and research initiatives Promote the development of community driven cleaner energy proposals, energy education and outreach programs Liaise with territorial and national departments to ensure coordination and facilitation of information sharing Research and advise on carbon pricing, clean growth, alternative energy and infrastructure initiatives Provide support to the Inuit-Canada Joint Clean Growth and Climate Change Table The ideal candidate will have the following combination of education, experience and knowledge: BA or Bachelor of Environmental Studies with a minimum of two years of experience in the field (Master’s Degree in physical, social or environmental sciences or related fields is preferred)  Two years experience in project planning, proposal writing and budget management Experience in analysis and communicating statistical information with a focus on non-technical audiences Experience in developing community projects with the ability to create both long and short-term plans based on community input Knowledge and interest in Canadian energy policy, funding initiatives and carbon pricing legislation Knowledge of GNWT energy programs, strategy and opportunities Knowledge of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region and the Inuvialuit Final Agreement initiatives Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and communicate effectively both orally and written, with diverse audiences Proven ability to plan, schedule, supervise, conduct, evaluate and report on projects and programs Tact, judgment, cultural sensitivity and behavioural flexibility are required attributes Priority consideration will be given to beneficiaries of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement. Under the guidance of the Research Manager, the Climate Change Program Coordinator is responsible for addressing short and long-term climate policy needs by supporting regional/community climate change priorities and establishing a climate change program within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR). The successful candidate will work closely with local communities, and the Inuvialuit Corporate Group to ensure a coordinated approach to climate change adaptation/migration efforts in the ISR.
