Support sustainability policies and programs through education and engagement. Serve as a resource for county and community partners on areas of subject matter expertise. Special Note :   This position works where children regularly congregate and in accordance with Florida Statues applicants must pass criminal sexual predator and sexual offender check background check. Successful applicants will also be subject to local/state and FBI background checks (including fingerprinting). Minimum Qualifications :  Minimum of two (2) year degree with three (3) years of related experience - OR - A Bachelor's Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or a highly related field - OR - Five (5) years professional related experience.  A valid Driver’s License is required.   Preferred Qualifications :  Four (4) years of experience in sustainability or related outreach and education, networking facilitation, event planning and coordination, and policy analysis is preferred. Sustainability-related accreditation preferred, such as LEED GA, LEED AP or International Society of Sustainability Professionals Certificate.  Demonstrated understanding of and connections to the network of sustainability professionals and advocates in Sarasota County preferred. Job Develop, implement, and monitor habitat management plans for Sarasota County natural area parks, preserves and trails. Minimum Qualifications:  A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the biological or physical sciences, Environmental Engineering or related field and three (3) years of professional experience which includes managing natural areas (prescribed burning, exotic control, ecological restoration). Progressively responsible professional experience may be substituted on a year- for-year  basis for  the  required  college  degree.  A  Master's  Degree  may  substitute for one year of professional experience. A valid Driver’s License is required. Preferred Qualifications:  FL Certified Prescribed Burn Manager (or ability to obtain within 12 months), Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within 12 months), and Certified NATA Natural Areas Manager (or ability to obtain within 3 years). Job Competencies:  Field sampling, resource management experience (prescribed burning, exotic species management, habitat restoration, etc.) and computer software (MS Word, MS Project, Excel, GIS, Arc View).
