Founded in 1858, Bloomington is located in southern Hennepin County and is bounded by Interstate 494 to the north, Highway 169 to the west and the Minnesota River to the south and east. 

Human Resources coordinates recruitment and hiring, conducts contract negotiations, and administers employee benefits, compensation and job classification for the City of Bloomington.

The Sustainability Commission advises the Bloomington City Council, Bloomington City staff, and the Bloomington community on policies, practices, procedures and proposals that relate to the sustainable use and management of environmental resources that include air, water, energy, land and ecological resources, and waste. The Commission helps to ensure that such resources will be sustained and continue to provide for a high quality of life for present and future generations.

General Duties:     The City of Bloomington is seeking an individual to manage projects to advance the goals of the City of Bloomington Sustainability Commission under direction of the Deputy Public Works Director. Projects will be in the focus areas of energy, solid waste and water conservation. This intern will assist with researching, planning, implementing and evaluating environmental projects and communication plans. Minimum Qualifications Possess a Bachelor's degree, or will attain by June 2018, in Environmental Science, Environmental Education, Planning, Urban Studies, Public Administration, Communication/Marketing or closely related fields. Ability to collaborate with people to move projects forward. Ability to work effectively and tactfully with the public, supervisors and peers.
