Description Extension Educators provide the link between Land Grant University research and Indiana residents by creating innovative learning opportunities that address local issues. Dedicated to helping improve the quality of life for current and future residents, Educators collaborate with local, county and state agencies, partner organizations, businesses and schools to analyze needs, develop, implement and oversee vibrant and sustainable research based educational programs, and provide resources and expertise to the local community. As the agricultural industry responds to the growing demands for food, fiber and fuel, Extension outreach is becoming more dynamic as it incorporates agriculture and natural resource based strategies into economic development plans and programs.  The Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator builds partnerships with county and regional agencies, agricultural producers, landowners, agricultural organizations, homeowners, decision makers, and citizens interested in the science of agriculture.  The ANR Educator serves as a key resource in agriculture and natural resources in their county, and has responsibility for developing and implementing comprehensive programming, which may include cropping systems, farm business/farm management, livestock systems, horticulture, agriculture economics, natural resource conservation and environmental stewardship.  RESPONSIBILITIES Work with state and local advisory committees in conducting needs assessments to identify critically important issues. Develop effective and contemporary approaches to plan, deliver and evaluate programming. Ensure all efforts are made to reach diverse audiences and provide equitable access to programs and facilities. Identify, recruit and develop the volunteer leadership necessary to help carry out the mission of Purdue Extension. Develop regular and effective communications and working relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders within the community. Quantify, communicate and promote the value of Extension education to key stakeholders, partners and decision-makers. Develop and cultivate external funding sources to enhance educational programming. Participate in and/or lead teams to enhance the scope and reach of Extension programming. Other responsibilities as required. Qualifications   Required: Master’s degree with academic training and/or professional experience relevant to position responsibilities. Ability to work with minimal supervision, including prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines. Knowledge and skill with computer technology in preparing and making reports, presentations, data analysis and retrieval, email and internet applications. Knowledge of basic educational methods and the ability to effectively communicate/teach program specific material. Ability to work with diverse audiences and stakeholders. Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, teamwork and group process skills. Flexibility and creativity in the workplace. Description The Program Manager is a key part of the managerial team that supports the overall mission, goals, and operation of the Arequipa Nexus Institute for Food, Energy, Water, and the Environment (The Nexus) by facilitating all aspects of project coordination among Purdue and partner researchers, stakeholders, and students. Purdue and the Universidad Nacional de San Agustin (UNSA) researchers will, over the course of this three-year partnership, collaboratively address key environmental, agroeconomic, and social challenges limiting the development of adaptive, profitable, and sustainable food-energy-water systems in the Arequipa Region of Peru. This collaboration includes a portfolio of cutting edge, interdisciplinary research projects that will operate in Arequipa and at Purdue University. Purdue’s Center for the Environment (C4E) in Discovery Park will be the administrative and collaborative link to UNSA in establishing the Nexus Institute in Arequipa.  The Program Manager will be primarily tasked with assisting The Nexus Director at Purdue. This may include working with other Nexus-affiliated Purdue and UNSA faculty and staff as needed, to coordinate and organize efforts to support the research projects, facilitate new engagement and collaboration with relevant community and academic entities, and help with organization and reporting for projects. The successful candidate will provide support for Nexus events, both on and off campus and be responsible for internal and external Nexus communications, deliverables, and related outreach activities.    The Program Manager will assist with development and management of the UNSA-Purdue collaboration entities, including: UNSA Foundry (Commercialization Center), which will facilitate technology transfer and entrepreneurship. Purdue-UNSA English Language Program, which is designed to build capacity at UNSA beginning with a comprehensive English Language Program to sharpen the writing and speaking skills of UNSA faculty. Proficient in MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Publisher and/or Apple iWORKS suite. Ability to work independently and within groups to develop, initiate, and run new and existing programs. Ability to multi-task and thrive in a changing, dynamic environment. Valid US or Canadian driver’s license.   Preferred: Master’s Degree. Coursework in Environmental or Sustainability Science. Experience in grant writing, designing and implementing research programs. Experience working with faculty, graduate and undergraduate students in an academic environment.   Additional Information: Travel to Peru and within the US is required with the expectation of approximately 2 international and 2 domestic trips per year of up to approximately a week in duration each.
