Description Environmental Specialist 3 Camp Murray, WA Under the supervision of the Environmental Program Supervisor, performs professional level environmental specialist duties with the focus on Sustainability, Pollution Prevention (including Air Quality), and Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation. Responsible to support environmental compliance regulatory requirements. Responsible to assist in advancing agency efforts to achieve Pollution Prevention (including Air Quality) and Sustainability goals. Responsible to manage the Environmental Performance Assessment System (EPAS) program. Assist with the development and implementation of appropriate document control systems for the Environmental Programs. Support the procurement, direction and evaluation of contracted services to advance the environment work of the agency. Qualifications REQUIRED One year of experience as an Environmental Specialist 2; OR A Bachelor's degree involving a major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or related field. AND Two years of professional-level experience in environmental analysis or control of environmental planning. OR A Ph.D. in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, or environmental planning. DESIRED Certifications: RCRA Hazardous Wastes Management, DOT Hazardous Wastes Transportation, and HAZWOPER Certification. Experience: Performing complex environmental compliance audits/investigations and conducting environmental surveys/assessments; reviewing, monitoring and/or issuing environmental permits; and writing of technical, scientific, or popular papers. Skills & Abilities to : Perform and act as subject matter expert on Sustainability, EMS, EPAS, Pollution Prevention including Air Quality, general environmental management, working to support the environmental conformance objectives of the Agency. Provide assistance to the environmental program staff in performing Pollution Prevention projects related to hazardous wastes/materials and stormwater, and in conducting EPAS inspections, and developing and implementing corrective actions. Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, or similar software) to develop documents in support of program objectives.
