Position Description Under general supervision, the incumbent takes care of a wide variety of native and exotic animals. Performs the duties below; other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate. Responsibly handles frogs, snakes, turtles, etc. Feeds, cleans and performs general care of animals. Keeps workplace clean and sanitary at all times. Follows instructions from the supervising naturalists. Works well with supervisors, other team members and the public, including children and adults from a variety of backgrounds. Speaks in front of large groups. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Requirements High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Knowledge of local ecosystems, flora and fauna. Excellent work ethic and effective oral and written communication skills. Public speaking skills and willingness to speak in front of large groups. Must be punctual. Ability to handle frogs, snakes, turtles, etc. effectively and responsibly without being squeamish. Valid driver's license (Texas upon hire). Environmental and Physical Requirements: Physical ability to perform job duties including: frequently talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting; using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Must frequently lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
