Full time
The Michigan League of Conservation Voters is seeking a full-time organizer for the #OurWaterOurVote campaign in Traverse City. The campaign seeks to make clean water and healthy communities a political priority, not just in 2018, but in the years to follow. We are organizing citizens to elect and hold accountable leaders at all levels to protecting the Great Lakes and ensuring safe drinking water for all. That means shutting down Enbridge Line 5 before a disaster takes place. That means continuing to stop big factory extractions of our groundwater, like Nestle, sucking our wells dry. That means taking action to stop lead contamination in our drinking water. And that means cleaning up ‘forever chemicals’ like those polluting tap water in Grayling and Oscoda. The ideal candidate will be a confident, people person who is hungry to make a difference in this state. They will have ideas about how to build, organize and mobilize a base of people for action. They will be self-starters who are able to work independently, take initiative, and be resourceful and make things happen. We will train and equip organizers with the specific skill sets and background knowledge needed. This is a full-time, short-term position through Election Day (November 6, 2018), paid hourly at $15/hour. There is a possibility of continued work after that date, but that is not guaranteed. Remember to say you found this opportunity at EnvironmentalCareer.com
