The Global Catholic Climate Movement is a global network of over 400 member organizations and thousands of individual Catholics responding to the Pope’s call to action on care for creation in Laudato Si. GCCM serves the Catholic family worldwide to turn Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ encyclical into action for climate justice, by undergoing our own ecological conversion, transforming our lifestyles and calling for bold public policies together with the wider climate movement.
GCCM is a new organization, founded in 2015, but we have already grown fast and had a major impact, but there is still far to go.
Because of the urgency and the scale of the global climate problem, we have set ourselves an ambitious goal. We want to have 12 million Catholics--1% of the total population--actively engaged in action on climate change by 2020.
