Baltimore Woods Nature Center is headquartered on Bishop Hill Road in Marcellus, NY. We have a mixture of full-time and part-time staff members, and an army of volunteers implementing our mission. The land at Baltimore Woods’ headquarters is the first of over 37 natural areas that Central New York Land Trust has acquired since 1972. The property at Baltimore Woods is one of over 2000 acres of CNY Land Trust properties that preserve the geological variety and subtle beauty of Central New York. Baltimore Woods is a mature hardwood forest interspersed with hemlock.

Baltimore Woods Nature Center is a premier educational organization located in Marcellus, NY that transforms individuals and communities by cultivating a personal connection to, and an abiding love for the natural world, while serving as a model of sensible stewardship of nature for generations to come. Our Nature in the City program is in its 16th year of providing hands-on/minds-on natural science lessons to K-6 th grades in the Syracuse City School District and we are proud to partner with Onondaga County Save the Rain for third-grade programming focused on the Onondaga Lake Watershed. Environmental Educators will provide place-based environmental education lessons to third grades in all 19 Syracuse City School District Elementary Schools through Baltimore Woods Nature in the City program. Training will be provided and can begin as early as March 30. Job Description : Environmental Educator’s primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:  Serving as an educator for Baltimore Woods Nature Center’s award-winning Nature in the City program. Delivering programs to 3rd grade students at the Syracuse City School District from April – June 2018. Includes lessons in the classroom and at Elmwood Park in Syracuse. Using sound judgment when it comes to classroom management and engagement during programs Must have an understanding of natural science themes, nature-play and interpretation. This position reports directly to Becky Wilson, Education Manager at Baltimore Woods Nature Center Education and/or Experience:   Bachelor’s Degree in environmental interpretation, Biology or education field is preferred Experience teaching in an urban setting preferred  Experience teaching in an elementary school setting preferred NYS Teaching Certification preferred BWNC is an equal opportunity employer.
