The Village of Skokie, IL, is currently seeking qualified candidates interested in a limited term 12-week paid internship, assisting our Environmental Health division. Under the general direction of the Environmental Supervisor, assists the Environmental Health staff in the operation of the vector surveillance and control program, enforces state and local laws and ordinances related to public health. Conducts ongoing surveillance, control, and prevention activities for mosquitoes, ticks, rodents, nuisance birds, and other potential vectors of human disease; Conducts surveillance of animals that provide a reservoir for disease producing organisms; Conducts tasks related to West Nile Virus (WNV) source reduction such as identifying, documenting and/or remediating sources of standing and/or stagnant water; Responds to inquiries, investigate complaints, conduct evaluations, and provide technical consultation to help reduce or eliminate public health hazards and nuisance conditions...
