Your Opportunity You will perform environmental assessment and remediation tasks to support complex environmental remediation projects at sites with multi-media contamination including, but not limited to solvents, fuels, metals, and PCBs. Your Key Responsibilities Perform and document environmental assessment and remediation field data collection activities at primarily commercial and industrial facilities. Work activities may also take place at rural or undeveloped locations. Conduct fieldwork that includes but is not limited to collecting samples of soil, sediment, water, and air; installing soil borings and monitoring wells; supervising subcontractors; and coordinating complex field tasks with multiple staff and subcontractors. May be required to oversee advancement of soil and rock borings, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, manage subcontractors and minor soil excavation projects. Prepare soil boring logs, well construction diagrams, geologic cross sections, and potentiometric surface maps. Analyze field data and contribute to technical reports. Complete applicable company and client required health & safety training (including OSHA required training) and follow health & safety policies and procedures. This position is part of a larger environmental services team and will likely require support to multiple Stantec offices. Travel is required. Your Capabilities and Credentials Be willing to learn new skills while conducting field work, work independently for long hours in potentially inclement weather conditions, and be flexible in undertaking work assignments. Have excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills. Be conscientious, detail-oriented, organized, and disciplined. Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships within your technical team. Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and physical are required. Good driving record and valid driver’s license required. Work assignments will require TWIC card. Typical field work environments require the ability to stand for extended period of time on uneven terrain, lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs, and climb a ladder. Field work will include exposure to inclement weather conditions. Work assignments will be primarily in the field. Typical office environment involves working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Education and Experience Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Environmental Science, Geology or related field. Minimum of 0-3 years work experience. Co-op / Internship experience preferred. 40 hr Hazwoper (OSHA Hazardous Worker) certification is desired but not required.
