Summary This position is located on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, Clifton Ranger District, Duncan, AZ. The position is responsible for providing professional wildlife expertise in the protection, management, and improvement of wildlife within the framework of multiple-use management of forest and rangelands. Provide professional wildlife expertise in protection, management, and improvement of wildlife within framework of multiple-use management of forest and rangelands. Prepare or review biological evaluations for threatened, endangered or sensitive species. Coordinate wildlife management activities with other resources, recognize problems and recommend preventative or mitigation actions. Prepare project work plans and coordinate project work with other unit personnel considering wildlife habitat requirements in relation to other multiple-use management of forest and range activities. Review Environmental Assessments to determine adequacy of coordination of wildlife needs. Develop or provide input into annual program of work determining budgeting and staffing needs. Prepare reports and recommendations on wildlife program activities measuring responses to management activities, including annual surveys to determine status of endangered, threatened, sensitive, and other wildlife species and animal damage surveys. Provide assistance in preparing and reviewing environmental assessments and environmental impact statements affecting wildlife resources. Contribute to evaluation of alternatives and development of final recommendations for environmental impact to wildlife resources. Participate on interdisciplinary teams to evaluate impact of Service or non-Service activities on National Forest lands. Perform supervisory duties that include administrative and human resources management functions for unit such as providing advice, counsel or instruction on both administrative and work matters.
