The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Rocky Mountain National Park is mid-April to mid-October, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2020 Learn more about this agency Responsibilities The incumbent of this position supports the fire management programs at up to 18 National Park Service units. The majority of time will be spent at the following: Rocky Mountain NP, Great Sand Dunes NP, Florissant Fossil Beds NM, Dinosaur NM, Colorado NM, Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP, Curecanti National Recreation Area, and Mesa Verde NP. The position is duty-stationed at Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, CO and requires travel to some or all of the above parks during the course of the season. The position provides field and office assistance in the collection of vegetation composition data within prescribed burn units and the collection of fire behavior and weather data during prescribed burns. The incumbent will be required to identify plants in the field, and to enter and check the field data in the office using a computer, (or will enter data in the field using a tablet or other device). Although the incumbent's primary duties will be collecting and processing vegetation, fuels, fire behavior, and weather data, additional travel may be required to support local, regional, and national fire management efforts if qualified. Travel Required 50% or less - Incumbent will be required to travel to multiple NPS units to conduct routine monitoring. Duties : This position entails recruiting students to the Energy Management Program, mentoring/advising students and student career placement activities, as well as managing industry relations, working with industry executives to ensure program relevancy in the marketplace, affirming program quality and increasing program funding and student placement statistics.   Other job duties include: The creation of program narrative, marketing materials, and value proposition, resulting in elevated program awareness, increased and stable enrollment and positioning.  This will also include visiting high schools and recruiting students. Organizing, hosting, and participating in industry events and conferences.  Managing advisory board relations; leading program strategy, encouraging higher education and private sector collaboration on fundraising, brand development, and program development. Collaborating with the university foundation identifying fundraising and development opportunities. Seeking funds for program operations from private and public sources. Serve as main point of contact and communicator for Energy Management students providing clear expectations, deadlines, and opportunities. Qualifications : Candidates should have great vision and entrepreneurial drive; have an extensive network of industry relationships; be a strong leader with demonstrated progressive leadership positions in the oil and gas and/or extractive industries; and have had significant experience as a land negotiator. Candidates must be able to leverage these positions for job/internship opportunities and fundraising.  Required are strong communication skills, a commitment to undergraduate education, and the desire and ability to be an outstanding student recruiter, mentor, and teacher.
