HDR is in need of an Environmental Scientist II with experience in ecology and planning to work in our Midtown Atlanta office as a member of our environmental sciences and planning team in the South Atlantic Area. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise at the project level, executing tasks and assisting junior staff with project assignments. This individual will plan and direct small to medium size environmental tasks/projects for HDR's core business groups including transportation, resources, water/wastewater, federal facilities and other programs as identified. The right candidate will participate in and lead field studies throughout GA, NC, and SC. This will include preparation, planning, and analysis/review of technical documents, permit applications, NEPA documents and other environmental reports. Qualifications Required Qualifications • BS degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Planning, Engineering or closely related field required, Master's degree a plus. • 6+ years of experience in environmental planning and project management required. • Expertise with wetland delineation, stream assessment, and CWA Section 404/401 and GAPED stream buffer variance permitting a plus. • Demonstrated knowledge of NEPA processes in GA, NC, SC; including familiarity with Section 404 requirements, particularly processes associated with the USACE, FHWA, GDOT, counties and municipalities is preferred. • Technical expertise in project development including evaluation of environmental considerations for conceptual design, and in the interpretation and presentation of data for environmental studies and investigations in specialized disciplines within. • Must have experience working with multi-disciplined teams. • Proficient with MS Office Suite and familiar with use/application of GIS, CAD and MicroStation files. • Self-Starter with excellent writing and communication skills. • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Ability to travel overnight and for extended periods. • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must. • Local candidates are strongly preferred.
