Demonstrated success in raising at least $1 million annually from a variety of sources and a commitment to helping raise an $8–10 million annual budget, including cultivating and soliciting major institutional and individual donors.
Proven experience in financial and operations management, including the preparation and presentation of organizational budgets.

Compensation and Location
RAN offers an excellent benefits package and a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience. The target salary range for this position is $165,000–180,000 based off a competitive San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit survey. The final salary will be determined based on candidate experience and overall qualifications.
Benefits include full health coverage for the employee and their partner/family (plus an employer-funded Health Savings Account), vision and dental insurance, four weeks paid time off (increases to five weeks after two years), and a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with a 3% fully vesting employer match. Additionally, after five years, staff becomes eligible for a three-month, fully paid sabbatical.
This position will be located in San Francisco, CA. International travel on a regular basis is expected.

Qualifications / Requirements

Sierra Club seeks opportunities to form relationships and partnership with Indigenous-led organizations at the frontlines of Arctic and related fights on lands across the country, to center the voices and lift up the power of people most directly impacted by these threats.
Elevating innovative strategies to protect the Arctic Refuge within the broader coalition of organizations working together, including corporate campaigning. The Campaign Representative will work closely with coalition partners to contribute to the overall scope of coalition work to defend the Arctic Refuge; as well as bringing in key leaders from within Sierra Club to participate in planning. The Campaign Representative will also elevate and drive innovative strategies to protect the Arctic, including corporate campaigning. This representative will represent the Sierra Club to government officials, the media, business, and community leaders; as well as identify new grasstops allies and partners.
Throughout these responsibilities, the Campaign Representative ensures equity, justice, and inclusion are integral throughout the campaign work. This includes fostering inclusive team dynamics internally, working with coalition partners to further equity within the broader campaign work, setting campaign benchmarks that include inclusivity and equity, and focusing on shifting power dynamics that have led to these threats at the same time as ensuring the Arctic Refuge remains intact. Job Activities:
Acts as the lead staff member responsible for planning and implementation of the national campaign to defend the Arctic Refuge. Develops a strategic campaign plan, goals, and objectives in collaboration with the Sierra Club Arctic team. Facilitates close coordination with Sierra Club’s Environmental Law Program, Alaska Chapter, Communications Department, Organizing Department, Digital Strategies, Political Team, Dirty Fuels Team, and other Sierra Club’s programs including but not limited to Environmental Justice, Labor, Partnerships, and volunteer leadership.
Develops and fosters just and equitable partnerships with Indigenous-led organizations at the front lines of the fight to defend the Arctic Refuge; including allies in related fights. Serves as primary organizational liaison with these organizations.
Represents the Sierra Club and advances planning within the broader coalition to defend the Arctic Refuge, including driving innovative campaigning strategies such as corporate campaigning. This will require consistently being part of coalition planning meetings and ongoing calls, including setting the agenda/leading subgroup calls as needed.
Identifies new grasstops and organizational partners to bring in to the fight to defend the Refuge.
Closely coordinates with the Advancement Department to achieve associated Arctic Refuge campaign fundraising targets, including donor cultivation, proposal writing and internal updates.
Represents the Sierra Club Arctic Campaign within the public eye where strategic, including within traditional and social media, through presentations, etc.
Writes, edits, and reviews educational and advocacy materials.
Introduces creative ideas and approaches for consideration.
Handles miscellaneous Alaska projects and duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills:
B.A./B.S. degree in Environmental Studies, Political Science or a closely related field; or the equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and experience.
3- 5+ years' experience in a comparable position which includes substantial experience planning and managing grassroots campaigns, including strategy, facilitation, grassroots organizing, lobbying, media, partnership development, working with volunteers and external coalitions, and work with political leaders. Experience with managing a program budget desirable.
At least 3 years’ experience in working with Alaska Native led organizations, including NGOs, volunteer organizations, or Tribal Governments.
Commitment to advancing equity, inclusion and justice throughout all of our work.
Proficient knowledge of federal lands management processes. Familiarity with or experience working on Alaska environmental issues.
Excellent demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated public speaking and media presentation ability. Strong personal organization and prioritization skills. Strong listening skills with the ability to help resolve conflict. Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback – and commitment to a culture of flexibility, learning and growth.
Experience and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with volunteers.

We achieve this vision through three programs: Lands, Water, Wildlife; Beyond Dirty Fuels; and Sierra Club Outdoors, each of which are rooted in our organizational commitment to improving both our natural and human environment through a lense of equity, inclusion and justice. This position, part of the Lands, Water, Wildlife campaign, which works to build a national movement to protect our public lands, waters and wildlife, will lead the Arctic Refuge Campaign. As the Arctic Refuge Campaigner, this position:
Leads the Sierra Club Arctic Refuge Campaign team in planning and implementing the strategies and activities to protect the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge;

Scope:
