As an intern you will gain exposure at either the regional and plant/distribution center level or Headquarters level. You will work on a project that will be site, region or headquarters specific that will support the PepsiCo EHS agenda. These projects will be actionable plans that will drive improvements across the business. Below are some of the activities in which you can expect to participate :
Support execution, implementation, and tracking of a location’s annual EHS plan
Interface with regulatory bodies (DOT, State/Local Regulators) as needed
Develop, implement, execute, and manage strategies to prevent workplace injuries, environmental incidents, and vehicle accidents
Establish process to ensure driver capability using Defensive Driving techniques found in Best in Class systems
Perform risk assessments and assist in the implementation of effective physical and/or behavioral control measures; Recognize and verify the effectiveness of in-place control measures
Complete root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans to address root basic causes and management system weak-spots through the use of industry-recognized cause analysis techniques (5-Why, 8-D, etc.)

Currently pursuing a degree in: Health, Safety, Environmental (other related majors will be considered)
Highly motivated self-starter
Proven people/project leadership throughout your academic career (on- or off- campus)
Previous experience in an operations environment (on- or off- campus; either through employment or academic clubs)

A Day In The Life Typically Includes :
Technical Expert and Compliance Standard Owner
Direct and assist in compliance of federal (EPA) and State (WYDEQ) environmental program requirements, including but not limited to air, wastewater, stormwater, solid and hazardous waste, CERCL/EPCRA, and FCC.
Assist Plant Manager in the development and the implementation of the Corporate Environmental Management System (7-Element Risk Management System), as well as integration of the environmental system into the plant’s overall Operational Excellence (OpEx) Plan
Analyze incident and compliance trend data and work with operating departments to reduce risk
Participate in and/or lead environmental incident investigations, mitigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Coordinate activities and prepare/submit reporting to outside agencies on schedule
Assess and mitigate employee exposure to hazards in the workplace
Stay current with new ideas, engineering, and techniques in the environmental field
Represent facility during agency inspections
Identify cost-effective solutions for technical and regulatory environmental issues
Work closely with the respective Regional Environmental Manager and/or Business Environmental Manager for guidance and direction on all environmental matters
Knowledge share with Environmental personnel at other GP Building Product facilities
Learn and apply Market Based Management (MBM®) and foster the use of the MBM® Guiding Principles to create value and drive down risk at the site.
Function as the facility FCC licensing and regulatory contact for 2-way radios
What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science or Engineering Degree or related degree
A minimum of five (5) years of industrial environmental experience, with direct involvement in all aspects of a Title V Air Permit program
Experience with resolution and firmness to take charge of environmental matters and direct others’ activities as needed

Ability to interface well with all employees (hourly and salaried) in the facility
