Summary :
The Chief Resilience and Sustainability Officer (CRSO) is responsible for the development, oversight and delivery initiatives targeted at adopting sustainable practices and improving the Village of Key Biscayne’s resilience to disrupting events. Works with various departments to develop a clear and compelling vision, strategy, and programs to support community resilience and sustainable practices. The role will be responsible for identifying environmental threats and risks, reducing exposure through coordination with emergency management and preparedness, developing mitigation programs and working on long term sustainable practices to promote economic, social and environmental development of the community.
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Village Manager and is reviewed based on accuracy, timeliness and effectiveness of results achieved.
Customer Service :
To serve the residents, visitors, vendors and employees of the Village with respect, helpfulness, friendliness, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and patience that reflects the mission, values and operating principles of the Village of Key Biscayne.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in environmental science, engineering, architecture, and/or other related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional and leadership experience in the area of resiliency and sustainability, including sound strategy formulation, engagement, and project delivery.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Project Management Certification or considerable experience in project management.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Must have current State of Florida driver's license.
Ability to fluently speak, hear, read and write the English language. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
Must be non-smoker.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Include the following:
Objectively, assesses and prioritizes the greatest threats to the Village’s operations, harnessing the expertise and resources across the Village departments, other jurisdictions, and the community.
Creation and implementation of a cohesive sustainability and resilience strategy and plan, coordinate and direct sustainability and resilience efforts across all Village departments.
Coordinates, develops, and manages the integration and communication of sustainability policies, resilience strategy and associated initiatives and practices for the Village in collaboration with the Community Engagement and Communications Officer.
Develops and works closely with department heads to implement a full range of programs to reduce the environmental impacts of Village operations through tactics involving energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate, transportation, green building, water quality, air quality, biodiversity, waste reduction, green products, natural land preservation, community engagement and other related activities.
Provides resilience planning support and works collaboratively with the Village’s team to assist with tasks such as vulnerability assessment, identifying priority need areas and actionable initiatives, metrics of success and monitoring, best practices, community mobilization.
Analyzes state and federal polices and legislation relating directly and indirectly to climate change and sustainability and make recommendations on action when appropriate.
Responsible for benchmarking existing efforts and metrics and collaborates with Finance Director on pursuing creative financial solutions including tax credits, rebate programs, revolving loan funds as well as grant opportunities to fund projects and programs.
Researches reports and analyzes data on global warming, climate change, carbon emissions and alternative fuel sources; generates feasibility and cost analysis reports used to formulate alternative initiatives to attain the Village's sustainability goals.
Achieves results in building and sustaining a livable and inclusive community; with emphasis on educational excellence, healthy neighborhoods and people, environmental quality, natural resource protection, strategic economic development, growing a green economy, quality jobs, community safety, and arts and culture.

Context: Will design and direct an independent expenditure program to leverage Sierra Club grassroots base of 4 million members and supporters to ensure at least 1 million are converted to political action takers and are actively engaged in a successful effort to defeat Donald Trump and win back an environmental majority in the Senate. Scope: The Presidential Battleground States Program Director has program responsibility and works with senior staff to execute the following job activities:
Job Activities:
Directs the Club's efforts on the independent Presidential Battleground States Program, including the development of strategies, allocation of resources, and hiring and supervision of program staff.
Works with National Political Director, SCPT Committee, other Sierra Club’s departments, and consultants to formulate strategies and implement the program.

Context: Will design and direct an independent expenditure program to leverage Sierra Club grassroots base of 4 million members and supporters to ensure at least 1 million are converted to political action takers and are actively engaged in a successful effort to defeat Donald Trump and win back an environmental majority in the Senate. This will include identifying 3 to 4 battleground states where Sierra Club will recruit and mobilize our existing members and supporters to engage in direct voter contact (canvass, text, phone bank and post-card) of like-minded and persuadable voters to get out the vote (GOTV) in urban and suburban areas. Will seek opportunities to increase the saliency of climate and the environment by identifying and utilizing opportunities where climate and clean energy and public health will effectively engage and mobilize voters, and to build enduring political power through base and engagement growth.
Scope: The Presidential Battleground States Program Director has program responsibility and works with senior staff to execute the following job activities:
Job Activities:
Directs the Club's efforts on the independent Presidential Battleground States Program, including the development of strategies, allocation of resources, and hiring and supervision of program staff.
Works with National Political Director, SCPT Committee, other Sierra Club’s departments, and consultants to formulate strategies and implement the program.
Develops and oversees $5M program budget, fundraising strategies, materials, and outreach.
Ensures our mobilization effort and targeting is informed by data analysis and motoring progress and impact.
Collaborates with the Office of the General Counsel on program plans to ensure that all activities of the Battleground States plan adhere to relevant federal compliance requirements and Sierra Club policies, and supplies the Compliance and Regulatory Reporting Officer with all information necessary for the timely filing of campaign finance reports (or oversees that this is done).
Represents the organization to other independent political organizations and tables and develops collaborative plans to ensure efficient overall effort.
Assures coordination across Digital Strategies, Communications, and Operations and other relevant Sierra Club’s departments to successfully implement the program.
Qualifications:
5 years campaign related experience, including strategy development, staff supervision, organizing, media, and implementing voter contact programs.
At least one cycle of experience in reconciling program and cash flow budgets.
Prior experience with direct voter contact programs including reading and analyzing polling data, designing state-of-the-art voter contact programs, and evaluating results.
Experience running test and adjust or experiment-informed voter contact programs.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data/engagement tools including VAN, Salesforce, Mobilize, Hustle.
Demonstrated ability to use data to inform strategy including targeting, modeling, and use of dashboards. Commitment to fostering a values drive/data informed approach.
Grassroots organizing experience.
Expert knowledge of electoral politics and working knowledge of the federal legislative process.
Experience developing and/or implementing new media campaigns.
Excellent demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated public speaking and media presentation ability.

The Climate Communications Specialist will play a vital role in leading communications on sustainability and climate action in Boulder County and Colorado by representing Boulder County and Boulder County Public Health on the issues of air quality, sustainability, and climate change. The position will develop creative and effective climate campaigns/social mobilization, manage climate communication campaigns, oversee contractors in developing materials, represent the county in presentations to community partners, work with the media, and unify climate and sustainability communications across county departments. Description
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (District) is a regional government agency, committed to achieving clean air to protect the public's health, the environment and the global climate. The District accomplishes this goal through regulation of industrial facilities, regional planning efforts and various outreach and incentive programs designed to encourage clean air choices. The District's jurisdiction encompasses all of seven counties - Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Napa, and portions of two others - southwestern Solano and southern Sonoma. The District is currently conducting a recruitment for the position of Air Quality Inspector I in the Compliance & Enforcement Division. There are seven (7) positions. This is an open recruitment for full-time, represented positions. Under direction, performs a full range of inspections and investigations of manufacturing, industrial, commercial, agricultural and residential facilities and dwellings that are existing and/or potential sources of air pollution; performs related work as assigned.
Examples of Duties for this Position
Conducts annual compliance inspections on facilities designated as sources of air pollution within an assigned geographical area within established guidelines and time frames; makes determinations of compliance with applicable regulations; verifies permit status. Uses monitoring equipment and instrumentation to measure and evaluate various emissions and particulates; maintains these devices for integrity and consistency of performance. Responds and investigates complaints by citizens of air pollution problems; determines nature and extent of problem; takes representative samples of various materials for laboratory analysis; prepares documentation of findings; consults with citizens on status of complaint. Prepares a variety of written communications, including detailed technical reports, compliance guidance memoranda and case summaries used for office conferences and hearing board sessions; completes inspections forms. Issues violation notices to sources found in violation of compliance; prepares necessary documentation for violation notice reports. Conducts on-site inspections of manufacturing, industrial, commercial and agricultural operations and their compliance to ensure adherence to air quality standards and regulations; may call for source tests of site emissions. Conducts grid surveillance to detect permit and emissions violations; ensures that all potential air pollution sources are identified for future monitoring and abatement. Conducts chemical and plume evaluation tests and record findings; takes photographs for documentation at inspection sites. Interfaces with technical personnel at facilities regarding plant source emissions, solvent usage, permit status, and compliance status with district rules and regulations; explains compliance options to industry when a violation occurs. Provides information and assistance to businesses and the public regarding District regulations and authority, permit policies and procedures. Coordinates with other governmental agencies regarding the investigation of complex community air pollution exposures, such as highly toxic spills. Interacts with laboratory staff regarding the analysis of samples taken in the field. Represents the District before the Hearing Board or courts regarding violations of District and state air quality control regulations; represents the District with technical personnel, other governmental agencies and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills is: Air Quality Inspector I: Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in chemistry, engineering, environmental science or a closely related field. Air Quality Inspector II: In addition to the above, two years of experience performing air quality inspections at a level equivalent to the District's class of Air Quality Inspector I.
