The County of Santa Clara is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader for the position of Director of Parks and Recreation. This is an executive-level position responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and management of public parklands, recreational programs, and facilities. This role involves strategic planning, budgeting, policy implementation, and community engagement to ensure that parks and recreational services meet the needs of the community. The Director also manages staff and collaborates with various stakeholders to enhance accessible recreational opportunities and the conservation of natural resources. Required Background and Experience:
A qualified candidate would typically acquire the necessary knowledge and abilities through education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Planning, Economics, Public or Business Administration, or a related field, and a minimum of three (3) years of recent experience with responsibility for the development, management, and operation of parks and recreation facilities and programs.
