Position Overview
We are currently looking to add a dynamic Consulting Utility Forester to our passionate team of environmental professionals.
Davey Resource Group, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the employee owned Davey Tree Expert Company. We provide a wide range of natural resource, utility, GIS and remote sensing consulting services. Our job is to help our clients provide a safe and reliable power source through proper vegetation management practices.
Job Duties
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with major gas/electric utility system and address its forestry needs
Inspect and assess the rights of way for vegetation requiring pruning or removal to avoid conflicts with overhead conductors
Identify tree and brush control work and enter data into hand-held computer
Notify landowners of impending compliance or reliability work
Discuss and negotiate incompatible vegetation removals
Assess terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions
Coordinate with project managers, planners, and vegetation crews
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two or four year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science or a related discipline
Has more than 3 years of utility vegetation management experience
Has less than 3 years of utility vegetation management experience or similar experience in a related field (tree work industry, landscape professional) and is an ISA certified arborist.
Organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail
Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather
Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle
