NEIWPCC and the NYSDEC Hudson River Estuary Program are seeking a full-time Environmental Analyst to serve as the overall coordinator of the Hudson River Environmental Conditions Observing System (HRECOS).
Incumbent will work with the HRECOS management team and other Estuary and basin partners to continue to develop the network, both in the number of stations and in the data products available through the HRECOS website (www.HRECOS.org). The incumbent will manage HRECOS hydro-meteorological stations in the Capital Region, will assist in developing and conducting applied research utilizing HRECOS data, will plan and lead HRECOS managers’ meetings, and will communicate with government agencies, academic institutions, consultants, commercial shipping pilot groups, educators, and the general public on issues related to the HRECOS network. The position is located in Albany, NY; considerable travel throughout the Hudson River area and the New York metropolitan area is required.
The successful candidate will hold a degree in environmental science, environmental chemistry, oceanography, or a related field. Proven ability to work and communicate effectively with people from a variety of disciplines, such as scientists, agency staff, educators, and the public. Preferred experience/competence includes: QA/QC procedures; organizational and problem-solving skills, mathematical and statistical skills, and the development or implementation of monitoring and/or observing systems; data management using R, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel. The ability to write basic computer script is a plus.
