Job Description

OPPORTUNITY

The Business Development (BD) Associate will lead and support new business development efforts, including opportunity tracking, capture planning, proposal development and follow up. The BD Associate helps to take an opportunity through the pipeline from identification to submission. They focus on overall planning and management, writing select proposal/pre-proposal pieces, and coordinating the internal team and partner inputs for bid efforts, and assists in broader bid preparation and production aspects.

The position plays a key production role across a busy and diverse set of internal projects and initiatives and will report to the Director of Business Development and Marketing. Success in this position includes the ability to manage and drive processes forward, respond quickly to varied demands and tight deadlines, and complete high-quality work products on time with an eye to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as capture manager with technical directors to successfully manage proposal efforts and resources, including timeline and action planning, identification of proposal team members, internal/external meeting support, efficient communications, and organization of proposal components
  • Has lead responsibility for coordinating select proposals (including preparing compliance matrices, tailored calendars, checklists, instructions, templates, and outlines) and monitoring progress through submission
  • Writes expressions of interest, corporate capability statements, personnel and management sections, past performance references, and other proposal components
  • Performs analysis of RFP/Q requirements and continually works to promote and ensure compliance
  • Helps facilitate evolution and documentation of proposal strategy, such as competitive analysis, developing win themes and technical approach, and selecting teaming partners
  • Leads technical and cost proposal production and submission, and coordinates post-submission debriefs, and transition to start up upon award
  • Works closely with the recruiting team to develop job descriptions, identify and screen candidates, facilitate and coordinate interviews, and finalize documentation of selected candidates for proposals and anticipated awards

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience, Master’s degree and 3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated success in contributing to multiple projects and managing multiple priorities
  • Experience supporting facilitation of meetings, both in-person and virtual

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success building a trusted advisory relationship with client teams, including technical specialists, to assess needs, manage processes, deliver high quality services, and solve problems
  • Experience working in international development or with U.S. government agencies, including USAID
  • Experience independently creating client deliverables, including scoping, production, and review; or, experience playing a critical role in the development of products

  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable working with various types of people and personalities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong process management skills and ability to produce quality products
  • Willingness to be available outside of regular office hours for time-sensitive tasks

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States with no restrictions
  • Criminal background check required

BASE STATION AND COVID-19 POLICY

The position will be based in Washington, DC. Due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the position will begin remotely. Being present in the office on multiple days per week is an expectation once we reopen offices, which is currently expected to commence sometime after March 2022.

Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 or legally authorized exemption is required for all Environmental Incentives employees working in the United States, regardless of office location or remote work. Selected candidates will be required to provide proof of full vaccination before beginning employment with Environmental Incentives. Full vaccination is defined as 2 weeks after the final dose of the requisite vaccination.
