This position will focus on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and lead investor engagement with members of the Ceres’ Land Use and Climate Working Group. The Senior Manager, Investor Engagement, will also support both the team and Ceres’ organizational strategies to work with the investment community on company commitments to no-deforestation and associated greenhouse gas emissions within agricultural supply chains.
 This position also works closely with the Ceres Investor Network, a network of more than 190 institutional investors with $38 trillion in assets under management, to ensure proper communication between investors in other Ceres’ working groups. This position is located on the Food and Forests team and will report to the Senior Director of Investor Engagement. This is a full-time staff position and can be remote. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Partner with the Senior Director of Investor Engagement to achieve various investor-related corporate engagement goals and strategies for the Land Use and Climate working group topic areas (Deforestation, Biodiversity, Natural Climate Solutions, and Ag/GHG);
  • Lead investor engagement activities of the Ceres’ Food Emission 50 investor campaign (Ag/GHG topic) focusing on corporate disclosure and transition plans;
  • Lead investor direct outreach, calls, meetings, presentations, and webinars with investors on GHG, deforestation risks, and other land use topics;
  • Manage and deepen Ceres’ relationships with asset owners and asset managers serving a dedicated portfolio of investors;
  • Promote and support the development of sustainable investment or governance policies and practices that incorporate ESG factors into the investment decision-making process working with investors on proxy voting, changing investment standards, and regulations;
  • Partner with the Senior Director in work with the Comms team and develop media messaging and communications materials, such as op-eds, press releases, and blogs;
  • Expand the visibility of Ceres’ Food and Forest programming by helping to organize and manage panels and speaking engagements at investor-facing global events;
  • Research, write, and edit communications with Ceres’ Land Use and Climate Working Group members, including contributions to website, newsletters, reports, case studies, and other publications;
  • Contribute to funder meetings and support identification of and outreach to potential new funders, in partnership with the Ceres Development Team;
  • Participate in planning and organizing Ceres annual conference and program events on behalf of the Food Program;
  • Manage annual project surveys, and other investor-related research on deforestation risks, commodities, and GHG impacts on climate change;
  • Where appropriate, supervise consultants, interns, fellows, and/or other staff projects;
  • Travel as necessary to achieve Food and Forest program goals.


  • Minimum of seven years of work experience, preferably direct experience working in ESG investing or on sustainability-related issues;
  • A deep understanding of institutional investors, financial markets, and corporate governance;
  • Strong meeting facilitation, communication, and presentation skills, including synthesizing research and conceptual work into actionable and presentable deliverables;
  • Strong strategic thinking and tactical skills, and an ability to mobilize constituencies toward identified goals;
  • Demonstrated capacity to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, take precise notes, and work well in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects with multiple stakeholders;
  • Strong organizational, writing, project management, and public speaking skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Experience using Bloomberg and Salesforce is a plus;
  • Attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, passion for learning, and a willingness to become proficient in ESG data, frameworks, and reporting;
  • Self-starter with an ability to work well both independently and collaboratively;
  • Sound judgment, sensitivity to diverse constituencies, excellent interpersonal skills
