The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a national trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for Managing Director for its Sustainability & Market Outreach department. ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative.
The position is responsible for designing, implementing and executing ACC’s sustainability initiative as approved by the American Chemistry Council (ACC) Board of Directors. This position works closely with ACC member companies’ sustainability representatives and external stakeholders to advance the overall sustainability strategy through planning, partnerships, collaboration and advocacy. The position reports directly to and works closely with the Executive Vice President, Sustainability, Market Outreach and Communications.
Required qualifications include Bachelor’s degree in public policy, environment, government, science/engineering or related field and at least 15 years relevant professional level experience. Experience in ESG reporting, planning or strategic initiatives. Ability to design strategy, direction and action plans; strong written and oral communications skills, as well as the ability to give both internal and external presentations and the ability to cultivate and manage high-quality stakeholder relationships, work independently on a variety of complex matters simultaneously and travel domestically and internationally are a must. Familiarity with legislative and regulatory processes especially in the area of environmental and social sustainability efforts. Familiarity with chemicals or related industry manufacturing processes, including potential impacts on water, air and climate and experience working in a corporation and/or large trade association are preferred.
