Swedish Match North America LLC, a consumer-packaged goods producer (CPG) and market leader of cigars and a broad assortment of smokeless tobacco products is currently seeking a Sustainability Analyst in Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The Sustainability Analyst will be responsible for the consolidation, reporting and analysis of all sustainability related data from the US Division. This position will be responsible to ensure accuracy and reasonability in the reported numbers and should also periodically evaluate sustainability KPI’s. This position should work with Operations, Procurement and Human Resources to ensure that action plans and activities are sufficient to meet the long-range goals for the US Division, and should also be a resource to drive sustainability projects as needed. The Sustainability Analyst will be the primary contact with Sustainability Business Control in the Stockholm Corporate Office and should be versed in activities and performance in all sustainability focus areas for the US Division.

·Be the subject matter expert on sustainability within the US Division Business Control organization.

·Manage the reporting process for sustainability focus areas (annual report, divisional mid-term/business update materials, long-range plan etc.)

·Lead the consolidation effort for sustainability related KPIs, leveraging, to the full extent practical, existing Swedish Match reporting tools and systems. In areas that require new reporting capabilities, work with Corporate and Group IT resources in designing, developing and implementing new reporting tools

· Work within the division to create and track action plans to deliver on the US Division sustainability targets. This tracking should be kept up to date on an on-going basis and be reported to SM Corporate as needed and required.

·In a joint effort with Group Sustainability Business Control, drive towards a common and consistent approach to sustainability information capture, definitional framework and reporting across the Swedish Match Group

·Ensure high-quality disclosure in the relevant ESG indices for Swedish Match and support internal/external communications regarding sustainability/ESG content.

·Provide input on sustainability strategy, aspirations and target setting. Periodically assess sustainability KPIs and focus area relevance. Leverage insights and best practices in fast-moving consumer goods.

·Maintain a working knowledge of global sustainability frameworks and provide insights to the organization on sustainability networks/programs/certifications relevant for Swedish Match US Division.

·Work with procurement personnel to identify opportunities to reduce the environmental footprint.

·Work with the Sr. Mgr. Procurement to map our critical supply chains and identify and quantify key risks.


Education: College degree required in Economics, Finance or Accounting.  Courses in Environmental Sciences and strong affinity to the field of sustainability preferred.

Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of accounting and reporting experience. Preferably exposure to sustainability related topics.

Skills: Strong analytical skills.  Hands-on experience working in reporting systems (WorldFavor, AX, HFM, Anaplan, etc.). Outstanding communication skills (oral and written). Ability to work both autonomously and in groups. Ability to have both a strategic and more detailed analytical view.  Ability to prioritize.  Results and goal-oriented. Ability to lead, guide and influence.
