The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As Waste Counsel, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Advising, assessing, coordinating, investigating and training internal clients on compliance with hazardous and solid waste-related laws and regulations, e.g., Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)/Solid Waste Disposal Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA)/Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) and similar federal, state and local requirements associated with hazardous and solid waste regulation.
• Assisting with the implementation of risk assessments, standard operating procedures, monitoring, auditing, and other related hazardous waste and solid waste compliance controls
• Participating in due diligence teams during acquisitions and post-closing integrations to assess newly acquired businesses’ compliance with hazardous waste and solid waste laws
• Formulating, aligning and executing corporate strategies with hazardous waste and solid waste regulatory requirements
• Maintaining active involvement in development and deployment throughout the 3M structure of effective communication, training and compliance programs that meet 3Ms high standards. 

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Juris Doctor degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited law school and member of a United States bar in good standing
• Five (5) years in hazardous waste and solid waste law in a private, public, non-profit, or government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Engineering or technical degree;
• Experience working in or with industry, particularly manufacturing;
• Experience with environmental compliance programs;
• Strong academic background;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated capacity to operate in a fast-paced environment;
• Excellent writing ability.

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Location: Maplewood, MN and may consider remote U.S. work location

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
