Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI) is seeking a candidate to join our urban forestry team in Millersville, Maryland and be mentored by skilled tree preservation staff.
Primary Duties will include:
-Prepare arborist reports, tree preservation plans, specifications, and details
-Perform tree assessments using various methodologies including CTLA and TRAQ
-Review civil, architectural, and landscape architecture plans, details, and specifications for conflicts with trees
-Prepare invasive species management plans
-Perform tree inventories
Required:
-Bachelor’s degree in urban forestry, landscape architecture, or related discipline
-Background in urban forestry, landscape construction, landscape architecture, or site design and construction
-Experience in arboriculture; tree preservation; tree root patterns and morphology; and forest and landscape plant identification, including native trees and shrubs
-Understanding of the ecology of the Mid-Atlantic including native and invasive species
-Interest in working both indoors and outdoors in varying terrain
-Ability to work closely with design and construction management teams
-Willingness for occasional regional travel
-ISA Certified Arborist or the ability to obtain within one year
-TRAQ or the ability to obtain within two years
Preferred:
-Familiarity with land clearing; site work; residential, commercial, and institutional construction and renovations; landscape construction; underground utilities construction
-Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors
-Technological aptitude and ability to quickly learn unfamiliar software
-FCA Qualified Professional
-GIS and/or CAD experience (or willingness/aptitude to learn)
-Master’s degree in urban forestry, landscape architecture, or closely related discipline
