Under general direction of the Environmental Sustainability Director, plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates and reviews the work of staff performing difficult and complex professional, technical and office support related to all programs and activities of the Environmental Sustainability Department; manages the implementation of the City’s Integrated Wastewater Management Program and Clean Water Program; produces and maintains records as required by the Building Official; provides professional assistance to the Environmental Sustainability Director, the City Council, and others in areas of expertise; oversees, reviews and performs a variety of studies and prepares and presents staff reports; acts as the City’s Deputy Building Official; and performs related work as required.
The Environmental Sustainability Manager/Deputy Building Official:
Minimum Qualifications Required
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in building trades, construction management, community development, business or public administration or a related field and five (5) years of responsible professional experience in building trade and field inspection, including supervision. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two years.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must also
possess certification as a Building Inspector and one other related trade through ICBO or ICC and/or certification as a Combination Inspector by ICBO or ICC. Licensed registered engineer is highly desirable.
